Our program is Nicolette Zangara, Public Information Officer Springfield-Greene County Office of Emergency Management.
Nicolette Zangara started at the Office of Emergency Management on Cinco De Mayo 2025 as the Public Information Officer. In this position, Nicolette will act as the liaison between OEM, media/related partners, and the public. It’s her responsibility to get pertinent information out and address any misinformation or disinformation circulating and involving Greene County OEM.
Previously, Nicolette spent eight years in broadcast meteorology. Her career began in the Sunshine State at WUFT on the University of Florida campus as a student forecaster in 2017. There, she learned the ins and outs of television, radio, and social media. Nicolette was quickly immersed in the emergency management field as she joined FPREN, the Florida Public Radio Emergency Network. While operated through the university, it connected emergency management offices across the state while preparing for hurricanes. Within a week of joining the team, Hurricane Irma climbed up the spine of Florida and affected every OEM partner’s office over a 72-hour period. When COVID suspended her involvement years later, she turned to the local number one station in Gainesville – WCJB. The new opportunity allowed Nicolette to learn reporting in addition to refining her weather broadcasts.
In 2022, Nicolette married her husband Paul and moved to Springfield, Missouri after a position opened at KY3 News. Switching hurricanes for tornadoes and snow came with big changes, which only fueled her to keep learning. During her three years of employment with the station, she earned an Emmy nomination, and four Missouri Broadcasters Awards. Nicolette continued her education at Mississippi State University through the online Broadcast and Operational Meteorology Program (BOMP), earning a 3.7 GPA while working full time. She graduated with her degree in August of 2025.
Lunch is $24 per person (3% credit card recovery fee added for CC payments).
